What do you answer, when the only answer is 'I'm guilty.'?
What I find so appalling isn't even the lame excuses for the shitty management that has enough guilt for everyone named. What gets me is that some of these disgusting vulture-istic maggots that got massive bonus' with our money, they helped drive this company into the ground, got a bonus, then quit before the shit hit thinking they were going to get away with it. Now they have the nerve to say if the contract says I'm entitled then "o-fucking-well", I got my money. It never said I had to stay! It only asked if I would. Now, some have given their monies back. I say let them off the hook. The others who say they earned it though, I want in jail.
The house thought differently and just put a 90% tax on on bonus' paid out from companies where the government owns 79% or more. So out of hand are the repubs, they are saying this is a punishment, and unconstitutional. They say it's a bad joke to tax them. Jesus Christ, have they no shame? They duped the public into thinking the money was for a bailout, not for pay-out.
How did they earn the bonus?
They say it's not their fault, the government knew all about it and said nothing months ago. Some have even gone as far as to say all of this can be traced back to a piece of legislation from the eighties stating that banks would be judged on their performance of lending. The more they lent, they better they looked. The current crisis has this to blame, and AIG is just another victim of the bubble. They did their best to hold it up in an impossible situation. Sheesh!!!
Another question I have of a more ominous nature is, who deleted the clause in the contracts that read something like, "Ridiculous bonus' will not be paid out to the losers who helped the collapse of AIG go forward." How did that one slip by the Fed? The word out is that it was Chris Dodd who did it. He says it was at the behest of admin officials. That falls on Timbo dosen't it? I think Tim Geitner is holding on by a very thin thread. Obama digs that about him.
OK, I will admit, it is time to move forward and not harp on the past......... So long as we have indeed learned from it and will practice our new found wisdom!
As far as I see it, Obama needs to be very careful in the near future. Who we help and why we help is incredibly important. I mean personally i think we should take AIG apart, and make it into many small and responsible companies, and fire anyone having to do with the AIG scandal, in small or large part. Too many greedy people use scare tactics to save their jobs. The end of their job can mean the decline of the empire for christ sake! Why use fear as a diversion if you have nothing to hide? It's time we broke some backs, fought back and made this a democracy again instead of a new cast system with no creamy middle.
