That is why I turn to the fashion of the late forties and fifties. They really turned it up. It was seemingly, a way of life. Drinks, an assortment placed on a tray and passed, or left in a convenient place for people to choose and enjoy at their leisure.
I look very forward to the colder months, because it's a time when I genuinely enjoy indulging guests at my home. I try to keep an open door to most people, day or night. I enjoy those rare occasions when you get that unexpected knock at the door and it is someone who is counting on you to make them feel better, more comfortable. I don't normally bake cookies and the like, but I offer hot soup, strong drinks, and good company. Three key elements in hosting well.
I say why not spoil those who seek your company out. Don't judge them, embrace them for who they are and why they chose you. You don't always need to understand them, but don't criticize either. Just listen and let whoever it is be themselves in your presence.
So come on over, have a drink, and be yourselves!
