1) Complacency. The idea that we elect someone and let them do their thing, should, now, be a thing of the past. Would you let an employee run willie nilly through your files, budgets, business models, and never ask for an explanation? We have for eight years. Apparently, at the time, the corruption of Watergate meant very little to the voting public.
2) Greed. It's on Wall street, Main street, in religion, everywhere. What has greed ever gotten the public at large? nothing. It has only ever benefited the few.
3)Selfishness. The idea that I only need to worry about me and my own is an arcane idea. There used to be a thing called civility, we really need it back. Turning a blind eye does two things as I see it; first, bad karma, and second, more of a chance we will be left behind in a time of need.
We as Americans have done a great thing. At the same time we took on a responsibility when we chose our new president. We have chosen to be aware. We have chosen to be responsible as both Americans, and as citizens of the world. When we voted for Barak Obama, we voted to free ourselves from ignorance and mindless violence. We decided to follow a path that our country walked away from some years ago. We chose to live up to the reputation our country has enjoyed from the actions of our forefathers. WE HAVE CHOSEN TO ACCEPT THE AWESOME SPIRIT THAT MAKES US AMERICANS!!!!!!
Please people remember, this is only the first step. We need to let this man work. We must support him. We must have faith in our choices. We need to believe in our president, our country, and mostly ourselves. We should build with Barak, we should grow with him. We always knew what to do, now it's time to have the sack to do it.
