ksm in nyc to get what-for pdq is a-okay

This is really interesting I think. I live in nyc, so it holds more weight I think when people talk about nyc issues, local issues for me. The one I am talking about now Is the trial of Kaleed Sheik Mohammad, or ksm as I will refer to him.

The belief seems to be that if he were tried here, that somehow terrorists will get a new glimpse at the devastation and gloat, or that somehow the trial will empower fringe Islamic groups, or give ksm celebrity. Another view is we will just lose the case and have to cut him loose.

There is a war tribunal first off, with different international laws watching this, just in case. If, somehow, the justice system's ineptitude catches up with the prosecution, and ksm walks, guess who will be waiting for him outside of the court room? He is a confessed mass murderer, just like Slobodon Maelosevich. He confessed on tapes he made, not a confession at gitmo. It will stand up!

As far as giving celebrity and the limelight to ksm I say this. Sadaam got a daily dose of celebrity when he was tried at the Hague. He would go on 20 and 30 minute diatribes, often clearing the court room, which was viewed globally. It had little effect. He was rendered impotent way before he went to trial. The same applies here. His Jihadist group has a new leader that they follow until something happens to him. The only thing standing in the way of a clean victory, is torture, and the interpretation of the definition.

Obama is controversial, but he is not stupid. He was president of the Harvard Law Review. If he was uncertain about a conviction, he wouldn't go through with it. If he didn't have all the angles covered, he wouldn't have made the review. Say what you want about his policy, the man knows American law.

It is my belief that if the Mayor, Governor, and the white house administration thinks we will get justice in nyc, ( a few of those administrators being Bush's choices), the rest in my eyes is speculation based on paranoia. A terrorist's favorite food. We should never stall moving forward out of fear of someones possible behavior. That encapsulates the very essence of terror, and terrorism. That is what keeps it alive. Standing up to the bully, in the place he is most visible, that in my opinion is actually courageous. It is poetic justice in it's truest form. When you publicize this fear of being attacked again, that shows a terrorist that he is winning. It shows him you have been terrorized, and therefore you can be taken over. Justice is the mother of courage, and righteousness is the soul of courage. I believe Obama knows this. In this case, I think he did the right thing. I think he did what a patriot would have done. He looked at the enemy and said, it ends here and now.
