When she jumps on the bed at four in the morning, and stares at me, occasionally poking at me, I understand what my duties are. She is being considerate enough to say, she would rather not piss and shit in the apartment. I throw on some shoes, and sweats, and stumble outside to relive her. When I have a fever, she comes around every once in a while, lays by me exuding loyalty, and devotion. It helps a great deal. I know her favorite things are tennis balls, Nathons hot dog treats, and combo's. She knows when she shakes her head like a maniac, I laugh almost uncontrollably. We like to listen to music and chill out. She loves my cooking.
How is it then, that I can have a true kinship, and agreement with an entirely different species, be willing to understand differences between us, respect the different ways we live without judgment, and not be able to accomplish this basic feat with other people?
I believe in the end we all want the same basic things. Safety and prosperity for our families. Health and good fortune for our selves. Why is it then, can we not understand equality? Why can't we tolerate people, and the choices they make? Why are we so willing to crush someone's life whom we do not know, simply to ensure our needs and wants? We allow it to happen everyday.
For those who only take, I agree, give them little. For those who truly need however, for what ever reason, for those who are desperate, why do we still turn away? When did we trade our dignity for a vacation? Why is it alright to watch people suffer and continually say it's not our problem? Why have we not seen yet where that is leading to?
Albert Einstien was right when he said, "I don't know what weapons we will use in ww3. I know we will be using sticks and stones in ww4." How sick is it that he just assumed there would be a ww4?
I think it's the lack of civility that is going to bring this nation to it's knees. I believe, that like every revolt before this day, be it the Jews, slavery, or the revolutionary war, the one's that are forgotten, the one's who were judged, the one's with nothing to lose, will rise, organize, and overwhelm their oppressor's. I also think we do, and will, have a lot of re-building to do.
I unfortunately see this nation degrading into a mob. Two mobs really. One thinks it can't be touched. The other needs a leader to get things going. The idea of being ignored is simply how people sometimes are. When, however, it is compounded by theft, usury, coercion, and manipulation, then the elite take their lives into their own hands. They have no one to blame but them selves. It is not one persons responsibility to help. It is not up to the few to support the many. It is about reciprocity. The help from above is rewarded by the needy below. They pay into healthcare with taxes, they get their lawns mowed. They don't steal or de-fraud the accounts and mortgages of the middle and working classes, then they get their kids taught, and cared for by au pairs, nanny's, sitters. They fund public programs in the community, the get fewer crimes committed there. When they back their fellow Americans and compel the government to work for the people, they get their garbage picked up. It's the symbiosis of life.
Just a side note to the other end. Do not bite the hand that feeds you. If you accept their monies and the services rendered by those monies, then protect and serve with decency, and a thick skin. The worm only turns when it has ho choice. If the worm turns for any other reason, well..... CHOMP!
