Can't find my way back home

I have very few followers, but I was asked to come back by them and see whats what, say what needs to be said. So I am back. I am back with a prediction.

The car industry is turning around, unemployment has leveled off, the war goes on, neither winning or losing ground.

B.P. is criminal, the unemployment rate has stayed the same for over a year, wall street is bloated as ever, oil is still our Achilles heel, greed is our drug, finger pointing and whining is still our solution to all problems.

Unfortunately, I believe the latter of these statements has the teeth of truth to it. The economy is precariously, and painfully moving forward, without making an real progress. B.P. is trying to squirm out of it's disastrous debacle in the gulf, marine life effected forever, border wars with Mexico raging, needing the bodies for cheap labor but not wanting them to have access to our lifestyle, all the while calling this 'great' nation a melting pot for all who want to succeed. Foreclosures on homes, and job loss, remaining at depressing levels, one in, one out at this point, certainly nothing to brag about.

So many things wrong here in this country. Meanwhile the Netherlands was described as a place where the happiest people in the world live. Not because it's a bustling mecca of entertainment or barter, or export. It is because they value life, and try very successfully mind you, to ensure that quality of life with every breathe they take. They take what they need, and leave the rest, they smile and help people because of a sense of citizenship. They have sex because it feels right, not to be macho or have a sense of being. They eat when they are hungry, sleep when they are tired. They like to share stories and good times with strangers. They have few hang ups, few bullshit laws, almost no greed, and all because the vibe brought from 'just being' is more satisfying then scoring with the hot chick, or closing the big deal. They do not judge, therefore they are really comfortable being themselves, allowing the country as a whole to relax, and smile. There are no Jones' to keep up with.

Now look at the U.S.A. Greed is good, the bigger the house the better you are, make a ton of money, so you can move to the Netherlands and retire. I need more because I am afraid of being without. If your in trouble, you better have a plan B or your fucked.... Nobody is coming to your rescue. There is no citizenship here anymore. No more Mayberry. No more happy days. Yet that seems to be what we are working so hard to get to; a simple life where we can be ourselves, and exist quietly, and fully, with a true sense of contentment. How did we manage to twist things up so severely so fast. I remember being a child in New Jersey in the seventies. Half the battle was getting that intoxicating whiff of honeysuckle in the morning. There was no road rage. If you had a flat, someone stopped to help. If you were at an intersection, you let the other guy go first, because you knew that couple of seconds was not going to make or break your day. It was a time of mellow, not a need for getting the most done first, just to save your job.

So what if we end up second? Maybe if we stopped trying to be the best with second rate attitudes and goods, we would have time to go back to Mayberry. Maybe a bit of naivety is not so horrible. Maybe letting someone who wants to be ahead get ahead, without interfering could make everyone feel better. Why do infants need to know how to speak French, Italian, and English? Why can't they just develop in their own time, with encouragement, but without intent. In other words, teach your children well, and stop making them proof of your success. Average is not horrible, most people are, that's what the fucking word means!

I am asking to please, bring back civility, decency, and a bit of humor to your neighborhood block. Have a BBQ in the middle of the week. Ask how someone is, and actually listen to their answer. Help an old person across the street. We are at a crossroads in society now. It is a time when we can restore values, and be content with what we have, instead of sweating constantly for things that just really are not that important. Whistle while you work. Look around and ask yourself honestly....... Do I really need more? Or am I just addicted to the idea that I do.

SO my prediction after all of this.

Well, I predict that if we do not begin to act civilly to one another, put aside hate we carry only because of stress, and begin to live simpler lives, then this country is doomed. The end will come very soon. Maybe we do not need regulation, but we do indeed need to watch over eachother for benefit of community. We need to stop taking, begin giving, and start relaxing, enjoying what we have, and stop dreaming about what we deserve, or we will hit the iceberg, and sink like a stone. It has come down to this..... Give me civility or give me death.
