THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT??????

Well there is definitely a lot to talk about in the world. Sometimes you just want to walk away from the minutia of mind numbing decisions and the crumbling world, slowly being poached through a depleting ozone, and watch a movie. Then in front of you, is the problem. 200 channels of repetitive shit so deflating, it's hardly worth the dispassionate sigh you inadvertently expel during your fruitless surf through the vanilla video world.

What I am talking about is going to the movies or watching entertainment television. It has become so vanilla, and there was so much hope.

Reality t.v. hit. Anyone could be a star. You could be a star on an uninhabited island, in your classroom, being a groupie, or just being your junkie self. Now as it turns out, it's not just Jerry Springer, it's everyone. Originality has become mundane. The movies try to dupe us by remaking some 1950's romantic comedy, or a 1970's action flick ripped from television. I am a stoner yes, but not that dumb that I can't remember that the original Charlie's angels kicked the new one's ass, or that death race was really a cross country blood-fest. Half of Adam Sandler's early movies were jimmy Stewart re-makes.

Are there no more original ideas in Hollywood? There has been some good work, but few and far between, and when that fresh idea blooms and makes money, within two years there are five different versions of it, including a new sit-com. This is why HBO was doing so well for awhile. They made a decision not to placate anyone or that asshole Neilson, and moved ahead with crazy new ideas. This is why I think Steve Carell is so big.

We should really look at this. Media, to no small extent defines us as a culture, a people, and a society. Most of the news is the same, until you look at news from other nations and country's. We are sheep, being told what to think, what to laugh at, what to consume. I mean are you really satisfied with what your being fed? Aren't you tired yet of the same old franks and beans?

We need to tell people in charge of these things, we need better media. We need better news, movies, and television shows. We are letting so much fall by the wayside, I believe we are forgetting what we were seen as, and how we are viewed now. I think this is a part of that quagmire. We repeat what we are told. In the U.S. lately, we are told what to believe, and ignore the rest. The world is big, so much is happening, yet we insist on talking about the asshole octo-mom, or some other sad sac reality bonehead. Reality shows aren't even realistic!!!!

Please fight for your mind. The truth is, your smarter then they tell you you are. They care about money. They really don't care about you. They just need you to tune in. For that to be entertaining, you have to tune out. How much time can you really spend like that before someone slaps a DO NOT RESUSCITATE on your ass, and leave you behind with the rest of the lemmings. It's not to late to act as smart as you are and prove they are not.
